Welcome to Capital City Running

At the start line of the Western States 100 in June 2010. Less than 18 hours before Steve and his great crew took on and completed (27:27:28) the Super Bowl of ultra marathons.

Greetings! We are Steven and Gina Bernhardt and welcome to Capital City Running. We're a family owned and operated specialty running store located near Lake Travis on the edge of Texas Hill Country in West Austin, Texas. As folks who are extremely passionate about running and fitness walking we opened CCR to share our enthusiasm for running with the local community.  We are here to personally assist you in getting the footwear and apparel, as well as product knowledge and service you need to reach your fitness goals.

Prior to opening Capital City Running we owned and operated a successful running store in cold and snowy Appleton, Wisconsin, the Fox Valley Running Co. Ok, it was only cold and snowy for six months of the year, but definitely not ideal conditions for year round running. After coming to or through Austin numerous times over the years for such things as the Running Event or Tejas Trail Races like Rocky Raccoon and Nueces, we decided Austin would be an ideal place to live, run, and open another shop if we had the opportunity. Fortunately a national chain offered to purchase our Appleton store, so we took the offer and here we are! So far the running is great, we love the beauty and ruggedness of the Texas Hill Country, and we cannot get enough Texas BBQ.

In closing, we always want you to feel welcome when you walk through our doors. We work very hard to ensure you have the best selection of running products to choose from, and are dedicated to having the most helpful and knowledgeable staff possible. We know you have many options for your running and walking needs, but we will do our very best to earn your business and become "Your Running Store."
